To Show or Not To Show
Caridee began with the purchase of a blue roan bitch from breeder Linda (Cunningham) Bauer back in 1976. She went on to become Caridee's first Champion, Ch. Carachelle Calypso, "Lucy".
Lucy was bred in 1979 to her nephew, Ch. Carachelle Capt. Fantastic, "Captain" and produced the first Caridee litter. Unfortunately, that litter was all boys. Since we were looking to keep a girl, we rebred her to Captain in 1980 and got two girls! We kept them both, with Caridee Corvette, "Rita" being the real hopeful. She obtained 7 points and a major towards her championship but, unfortunately, although beautiful, did not pass the rigors of health testing. She was spayed along with her dam and sister and the three of them lived out their lives with us.
Becoming downhearted, dog showing and breeding fell by the wayside in favor of Arabian horses. Once that passion ran its course, the dogs once again took center stage and Caridee was revived to showing and breeding again in the year 2000 with a new litter. This litter produced by our beloved Caridee Moonshadow, "Josie" and sired by Ch. Kabree Designer Genes produced two puppies, one of which eventually became Ch. Caridee Millennial Moon, "Millie" co-owned with niece Paula Jensen.
Our commitment to the breed is to produce sound, healthy dogs that exemplify the breed in conformation, type and temperament.
We have lived in a small town in Mendocino County, Northern California since 1994. It is a largely rural community of which we enjoy our 20 acre share on a mountain ridge sitting at about 1600 feet elevation. We are only about an hour from the beautiful Mendocino Coast and at the "gateway to the redwoods".
We have always strived to maintain a small number of dogs in the household in order to be able to give adequate attention to each of them. All the dogs are kept as housedogs and truly live a blessed life. We have had more than one person say they wouldn't mind being one of our animals.
Our girls are our feisty orange roan girl "Georgia". And her blue roan and tan daughter "Toots". And our one and only boy is"Clarke"who is with us until he outgrows a condition called Megaesophagus. We then have high hopes that he will go on to live a wonderful life as a pet with some lucky family.
